Artists Bio's

Philip Ramsey,

Philip Ramsey has been painting professionally since 1991. He began as a muralist in Virginia and North Carolina, continued with that pursuit for 18 years, and then shifted his focus to the fine art of oil portraits and original oil paintings. His style varies from representational to impressionistic with vibrant color and bold painted strokes. His goal for the viewer is to be caught up in memory and emotion. Private Collectors from the United States, Canada, Thailand, and Malawi own commissioned pieces of Ramsey originals in addition to purchased works from several fine art galleries. Furthermore, Ramsey has conducted workshops and taught private lessons. Ramsey studied informally under internationally renowned portrait artist, John de la Vega, focusing on fine oil portraits and he now receives numerous oil portrait commissions from clients from all walks of life. He is a member of the Portrait Society of America.

Curt Ramsey,

Curt Ramsey was trained as an artist by his father, Philip Ramsey. While he has dabbled in various subject matter and styles over the years, he remains consistently drawn to portraiture. Curt enjoys bringing life to subjects on his canvas, exploring the depth of experience behind each person's eyes. A current interest of Curt is exploring the viewer's response to, and connection with the subject. This concept is explored in Ramsey's first full length portrait, "PROFESSOR KURT," on view in this exhibit. In this work Curt speaks to the idea of the subject's personhood, recognizing the humanity and uniqueness of every person. Curt is a native of Virginia who currently resides in Blacksburg. While staying busy maintaining a busy work schedule Curt would be happy to discuss potential commissions.

Wyatt Ramsey.

Wyatt Ramsey began his career as a professional artist while still a teenager. He accomplished this by participating in an exhibit organized by Galileo High School in Danville, VA. It was at that event held at the North Theatre that one of his paintings sold for the very first time. Later, as a high school student, Wyatt’s interest and talent in art continued to grow, providing him with the experience needed to teach art classes through a program entitled "Art With A Heart." His journey subsequently included time in Charleston, SC, then on to Savannah, GA in pursuit of an undergraduate degree with the Savannah College of Art and Design. While residing in Savannah he explored yet another artistic outlet – that of a street artist at the famous “River Road.” Throughout this time Wyatt continued to teach private art lessons while continuing to explore new artistic endeavors, including that of a professional wedding photographer. He has since moved to Richmond, VA where he has completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts at Virginia Commonwealth University. His photographic skills were not forgotten, however, as they were utilized by a promotional organization working with the City of Richmond. Wyatt is now building his portfolio of large expressive works of art. He recently returned from Strasbourg, France, an experience that has greatly influenced his work. Wyatt anticipates moving to Austin, Texas soon in pursuit of a Maters of Fine Art Degree at the University of Texas.
