The Eleventh Annual Storytelling Festival: Keeping the Oral History Alive was held Saturday, February 4, 2012 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History.Getting-Into-the-Story This festival  is a  family oriented, multi-generational event meant to inspire and bring together the entire community.

 The celebration incorporates powerful yarn spinning by professional Griots/storytellers with their generational wisdom that brings laughter and inspiration.

Claire-RamseyThis year the storytellers were Claire Ramsey, Wake Forest North Carolina, Logie Meachum, Winston Salem, NorthCarolina, Donna Washington of Durham, North Carolina, Darlene “Big Mama” Watson, Sharon Leigg, both of Danville, and Fred Motley of Danville.

As in past years, we recognized those individuals who through their careers and their community activism have inspired social and economical progress within the City of Danville and surrounding areas. This year's honorees were Patricia Hall, Gary Grant, Alice Walker, Kirby Wright,Lalor Earle, Sean Woods, Christopher Carter, and Bryant Hood.
