The Chatham mural “Harvest Season in Southern Virginia” is an iconic cultural marker, which illustrates the agricultural life of the Dan River’s rural region. The DMFAH Collections Manager Annie Chappell, the DMFAH collections team, and Director Elsabé Dixon present the fascinating stories behind the Carson Davenport collection, the artist who created the works in the collection, and the important role Carson Davenport played in the Work Progress Administration (WPA) during the 1930s.
