The Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History invites you to a film screening and a panel discussion featuring Karen Williamson’s Danville Legacy Stories: the “I Am…” project video and the Danville Museum’s “Civil Rights Trail” speakers: Sherman Saunders, Tommy Bennett and Gayle Breakley.
On February 1, 2022 the Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History became a Designated Civil Rights Trail Site and this event commemorates the work of the many who brought about this designation.
About the Danville Legacy Stories: the “I Am…” project video
Karen Williamson, a Danville Museum Artist in Residence in February of 2020, who produced the video Danville Legacy Stories: the “I Am…” project and the Danville Museum invite you to a public viewing of this film, as well as a panel discussion to address the Voices of African American Speakers during this Film and Panel Forum.
About the U.S. Civil Rights Trail Speaker Series VOICES: Sunday, February 27th also marks the first African American VOICES Speaker Forum, which takes place every year in February to commemorate Danville’s Civil Rights and the meaningful conversations that our exhibitions THE MOVEMENT and CAMILLA WILLIAMS have ignited. We thank our panelists: Tommy Bennett, Karen Williamson, Sherman Saunders, and Gayle Breakley for being our speakers and panelists for this event.
