Historic Haunts 2016
Before your tour, please join us for hot cider and funeral cakes in the Museum’s auditorium
Voices from Danville’s Past was the brainchild of Sharon Hughes, former Education Coordinator for the Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History, whose love of old cemeteries inspired her to research the Danville residents who are buried in Grove Street Cemetery, and to enlist Jason Kilgore to script the piece in 2001. Jason, a former resident of Danville, was a student at Virginia Tech at the time and is now an architect in Pennsylvania. Over the past fifteen years, the script has almost doubled in length as various other “personages” have been added to the tour.
The Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History hopes that you enjoy this evening’s tour of Old Grove Street Cemetery. The stories you will hear are the stories of Danville’s past, but our work to preserve our city’s history is ongoing. We urge you to be a part of that preservation by joining the Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History and other local historical preservation organizations.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all of the members of the Danville Museum and the many volunteers who helped make this event possible.
