150th Commemorative Dinner
To commemorate the 150th anniversary of Confederate President Jefferson Davis and his Cabinet’s visit to Danville, Virginia, the Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History is holding a dinner in the historic home of Major William T. Sutherlin on Saturday, April 4, 2015. From April 4 to 10, 1865, Jefferson Davis stayed at the Sutherlin mansion, thereafter known as the Last Capitol of the Confederacy. The guest of honor will be Bertram Hayes-Davis, great-great grandson of Jefferson Davis, who will speak briefly. The dinner will be a fundraiser for the Danville Museum and catered by Angela Blankenship. Event organizer, Carrie Reeves Petrick, has selected an elegant menu for the event, which includes cocktails, appetizers and dessert. The cocktail reception starts at 5:00 p.m. in the grand hall and study of the mansion. Tickets are now available for $100 at the Danville Museum or by printing an order form.
