The Danville Museum of Fine Arts and History (DMFAH) would like to announce the Camilla Williams Exhibition, made possible through a generous Make More Happen grant from the Danville Regional Foundation. The exhibition can be viewed in the DMFAH's Schoolfield and Jennings galleries. Through the exhibition of Camilla Williams, the DMFAH promotes history and art in the Dan River Region and integrates awareness of history, culture, and community. The Camilla Williams Exhibition highlights the relationship of the famed New York opera diva and her hometown, Danville, while exploring the difficult path to fame in a racially divided South during the civil rights movement.

Visiting DMFAH Resident Elise Shaffer will present a day-long workshop (10am to 3pm with lunch included or 5pm to 10pm with supper included). Individuals who do freelance marketing and organizations partnered with the museum will benefit from learning about the free resources available to them and the process of creating a virtual tour that can be used by arts and tourist organizations for various purposes.
Write Legacy Narratives: Writing WorkshopJanuary 25, 2020 thru January 25, 2020

The Strange Weave of Legacy and Obituary: Presentation and open workshop day with Karen Williamson. This five hour writing workshop will jumpstart the imagination and offer time to systematically document those narratives you want to leave for others. Do you have an awesome Legacy to document? Don’t let someone else write it; Write it yourself! At the end of the workshop you will have a professionally edited and completed document suitable for sharing with those close to you. Lunch is included. Sign up early. Class size is limited to 10 participants.
